tel.: 210 946 9600 www.eugenfound.edu.gr The non-profit Eugenides Foundation was founded in 1956 in accordance to the will of benefactor Eugenios Eugenides. Located in Palion Faliron, on the other side of Syngrou Avenue from the brand new Cultural Center Stavros Niarchos, it focuses on the scientific and technical education of the Greek youth. Eugenides Foundation offers 20 scholarships annually totaling US$ 300,000. Eugenides Foundation has published 400 titles of Educational Books in a total of 45,000,000 copies.
Eugenides Foundation Library occupies a space of 1,100 sq m, containing over 53,000 books and an electronic database as well as computers for accessing both the foundation's archives and sources from within the Internet. The Library accepts over 32,000 visitors each year. The new Digital Planetarium, is one of the largest and most advanced digital planetariums in the world, offering a fascinating visual trip to the stars. Recently renovated, the planetarium features an ultra modern, 280-person capacity projection hall with specially designed inclined seating, a huge 950 sq m semi-circular dome which also functions as a dome theater for wide-screen film screenings, a 1,800 sq m exhibition area, a modern conference center, and a scientific and technical multimedia library. 3,000 screenings per year receive over 400,000 visitors. Interactive Exhibition of Science and Technology with 65 permanent exhibits in the sectors of Mater and Materials, Communication, Biotechnology, occupying a total of 1,200 sq m, Conference Rooms, a 400-seat Amphitheater, a 120-seat Lecture Room, Laboratories, etc., complete the Center.
